West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has explosively condemned the recent violent clashes in Murshidabad and Malda, calling them a “ cotillion of death ” and covenanting action against the growing “ culture of violence ” in the state.
The clashes, which erupted on April 11 during demurrers against the Waqf( Amendment) Act, redounded in three deaths, multitudinous injuries, and significant property damage. numerous residers have been displaced, with some seeking retreat in relief camps in Malda and others shifting to Pakur in Jharkhand.
Speaking to ANI while visiting the affected regions, Governor Bose said, “ Violence is raising its unattractive head constantly in Bengal. We must end this cult of violence to insure peace. ” He visited victims in Malda and is anticipated to assess conditions in Murshidabad next.
In response, the Calcutta High Court ordered central forces to stay in Murshidabad and instructed political leaders to avoid inciting reflections.
The National Commission for Women( NCW), led by Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, has launched a inquiry, planning visits to both sections to support women affected by the uneasiness. The National Human Rights Commission( NHRC) is also set to visit a exile camp in Malda to assess the situation.
