Delhi is set to witness the launch of its ambitious Third Ring Road project this month, aimed at transforming the city’s transportation network. Spanning approximately 74 kilometers, this ₹8,000 crore infrastructure initiative is designed to cut travel time between outer Delhi, neighboring cities like Chandigarh and Gurugram, and the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport by nearly half. The new ring road will serve as a critical link connecting key areas across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, reducing congestion on existing roads and highways.

The project, originally a part of Delhi’s Master Plan 2021, has been developed into a national highway, divided into five sections, three in Delhi and two in Haryana. It will start from Alipur at NH-44 and end near Mahipalpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway at NH-48. The route will pass through industrial zones such as Bawana, Rohini, Mundka, and Najafgarh, offering faster and more convenient access to these regions. The new road will also link the eastern and western peripheral expressways, further improving traffic flow and reducing pollution caused by vehicle congestion.

Officials emphasize that the Third Ring Road will alleviate pressure on Delhi’s existing Inner and Outer Ring Roads, boosting connectivity in the outer, northern, northwestern, western, and southwestern parts of the city. In addition to facilitating smoother travel for commuters and freight, the project is expected to benefit underdeveloped areas like Najafgarh, Mundka, Karala, and Bawana. It will enhance rapid access to key hubs such as South Delhi, Noida, and Faridabad, promoting economic growth and regional integration across the National Capital Region.
