Car Plunges Into Open Drain in Noida, Narrow Escape

Date: Feb 13, 2026 | Source: Fela News

Another careless moment on Noida’s streets caused a small but frightening accident recently when a car suddenly fell into an uncovered drain in Sector 70. Luckily the driver managed to get out just seconds before the vehicle dropped several feet into the deep drain, leaving witnesses shaken and neighbours talking about how unsafe the roads have become.

According to people nearby, the incident happened in late afternoon when traffic was moderately heavy. The car was moving along the road when it suddenly veered towards the side and dipped into the open drain. People who saw it happen rushed to help, and some even pulled the driver out before the car sank further. It was a narrow escape, many said the man could have been seriously injured or worse if he had not managed to get out in time.

Several residents pointed out that the drain had been left open for weeks, without any barrier or warning sign at the spot. Many times, pedestrians and motorists had complained to the local authorities, but solutions seemed slow to arrive. One passerby said that children and elderly walkers are especially at risk in that area, and accidents were bound to happen sooner or later.

Police and civic officials reached the scene soon after and closed off the area to prevent another accident. Workers from the municipal corporation were called to inspect the site, and they spent considerable time removing debris and placing temporary covers over similar drains nearby. Still, many locals remain worried that this was not the first incident, and it may not be the last, unless more lasting fixes are done quickly.

The driver, though uninjured, admitted he was shaken. He said he did not see the opening until it was too late and felt thankful that people were there to help him immediately. He also urged authorities to take better action before someone gets badly hurt.

Social media users from Noida reacted strongly, sharing photos of the scene and calling for immediate repairs and safety signs across all sectors. For residents of Sector 70, this accident has become a reminder that road safety and civic responsibility still need urgent attention.
