Mahindra is gearing up to refresh its iconic 3-door Thar SUV, with the facelift version recently spotted testing on Indian roads. The updated model borrows several design cues from the limited-edition Thar Roxx, giving it a more modern and aggressive appearance. Spy images confirm exterior upgrades including a new vertical-slat grille, redesigned LED projector headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, fresh bumpers, updated fenders, and new alloy wheels. However, the mechanical setup remains unchanged, with no alterations to the petrol or diesel engine options.

Inside the cabin, the facelift brings a major tech upgrade. The biggest highlight is a larger 10.2-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, replacing the older 7-inch unit. The steering wheel is borrowed from the Roxx edition, and a fully digital instrument cluster is expected behind it. However, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are still missing, and features like manual IRVMs and the absence of cameras indicate limited driver-assist capabilities.

Under the hood, the facelifted Thar retains its current engine lineup. Buyers can expect the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 2.2-litre diesel, and 1.5-litre diesel units, offered with manual and automatic transmission options. Rear-wheel drive and 4WD configurations will continue across variants. While the SUV’s rugged capabilities remain untouched, the facelift focuses on enhancing comfort, infotainment, and style, making it more appealing to lifestyle SUV buyers. With these changes, Mahindra aims to keep the Thar competitive in a segment that values both performance and personality.
