Maruti eVitara Demand Grows Beyond Metro Cities

Date: Feb 28, 2026 | Source: Fela News

The newly launched Maruti Suzuki eVitara has started witnessing strong demand not only in major metropolitan cities but also in smaller towns across India. Priced from ₹10.99 lakh under the Battery as a Service model, the electric SUV has attracted a wide range of buyers who are considering switching to electric mobility for the first time.

The pricing strategy has played a major role in creating interest. By separating the battery cost through the Battery as a Service option, Maruti Suzuki has managed to keep the initial purchase price lower. This makes the vehicle feel more affordable and less risky for customers who are still unsure about investing in an electric car. Many buyers see this as a practical step towards adopting new technology without a very heavy upfront burden.

What is particularly interesting is that enquiries and bookings are coming strongly from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Earlier, electric vehicles were mostly popular in big urban areas where charging infrastructure and awareness were more developed. Now, customers in smaller cities are also showing confidence in electric mobility, which signals a gradual shift in consumer mindset.

The eVitara offers multiple battery options that promise a respectable driving range, making it suitable for both daily city commuting and occasional highway travel. Its SUV styling, brand trust of Maruti Suzuki and familiar service network are also adding to buyer confidence. For many families, it feels like a safe entry into the EV segment.

However, production constraints may affect delivery timelines in some regions. Manufacturing capacity is currently limited, and with growing demand both in India and for exports, supply might take some time to match demand fully.

Despite these challenges, the response to the eVitara shows that India’s EV movement is expanding beyond large cities. If infrastructure continues to improve and pricing remains competitive, electric vehicles like the eVitara could become a common sight even in smaller towns in the coming years.
