Mahindra’s popular flagship SUV, the XUV700, is set for a major update in 2026, and the facelift model has now been spotted testing in India for the first time. The prototype reveals significant changes on the front fascia, including a new grille, reworked bumper, and updated headlamps with redesigned DRLs. While the side profile remains largely unchanged, consistent with it being a facelift rather than a new generation, the front-end revamp brings a more premium look. Reports suggest that the facelift might be rebadged as the XUV7XO to differentiate it from the current model while still sharing its core design language.

The biggest upgrades are seen in the tech and features department. The facelifted XUV700 is expected to introduce a triple-screen layout combining infotainment, digital cluster, and a passenger display. Enhancements also include Level-2 ADAS, auto-park assist, an infinity sunroof with ambient lighting, rear ventilated seats, and sunblinds for second-row comfort. Additional highlights include an upgraded Harman audio system with Dolby support, a digital key, and auto-dimming IRVMs. The interior is also likely to sport a refreshed theme with improved upholstery and rear ottoman seats in select variants, particularly the six-seater versions.

Mechanically, the facelift continues with the trusted powertrains, the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (mStallion) and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel (mHawk) engines, paired with six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. No changes are expected in the drivetrain or performance tuning. The facelift is currently under testing and is expected to launch in India in 2026. Mahindra’s move to update its best-selling SUV aligns with rising competition in the premium SUV segment, and the refreshed design and high-tech features may give it a strong edge in the market.
