YouTube rolls out its AI Music Assistant, letting select U.S. creators generate copyright-free background music using prompts for mood, instruments, and video c
YouTube is launching a new AI powered tool that will generate background music for creators. Called the AI Music Assistant Feature, the tool is being rolled out to a few creators based out of the US.
Users will be able to produce music for their videos, based on the AI prompt, specifying the kind of music they want, the instrument, the mood, and the video that they plan on generating the music for. This would allow the creators to avoid copyright claims too.
Other companies like Stability AI and Meta have built comparable tools capable of producing background audio and generating sounds based on text prompts.
YouTube has also experimented with AI-powered music tools, such as a music remixer that enables users to "restyle" well-known songs for Shorts, and Dream Track, which transforms hummed melodies into music tracks inspired by the styles of featured artists.
