In a shocking case, Sonam Raghuvanshi allegedly plotted her husband’s murder during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, telling her lover she'd push him off a hill if
In a disturbing development, police revealed that Sonam Raghuvanshi, recently married and on her honeymoon in Meghalaya, had meticulously planned her husband Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder. According to sources, Sonam told her suspected lover and co-conspirator Raj Kushwaha that she would personally push Raja off a hill if the hired killers failed. This shocking statement came after she returned to her maternal home in Indore just four days post-wedding and began coordinating the plan over calls.
Investigators said Sonam delayed intimacy with her husband by suggesting a visit to the Kamakhya temple before heading to Meghalaya, claiming it was out of respect. Raja and Sonam checked out of a homestay in Nongriat on May 23. Ten days later, Raja’s body was discovered in a gorge 20 km away. Police believe three of Raj Kushwaha’s friends, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi were hired to carry out the murder. Autopsy results confirmed two sharp injuries to Raja’s head, both from a heavy-edged weapon.
After the murder, Sonam went missing but later surrendered at a police station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 8. Her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and the three hired killers were arrested in raids across UP, Indore, and Sagar. The four are now in transit custody of Meghalaya Police. Police officials described the murder as premeditated, citing call records and planning that began just days after the wedding. The investigation continues, with officials seeking further clarity on the extent of the conspiracy and involvement of all accused.
