Leaked WhatsApp chats and public altercations reveal growing tensions within the Trinamool Congress, as senior leaders like Mahua Moitra, Kalyan Banerjee, and K
The recent leaks of WhatsApp chats and video footage have shed light on the internal fighting and dissatisfaction among the Trinamool Congress (TMC) members. Earlier, as well there have been negative comments from senior party leaders including Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad and Mahua Moitra.
On 4 April, 2025 TMC MP’s Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra were involved in a verbal altercation at the Election Commission of India’s office in New Delhi. The disagreement allegedly stemmed from Moitra’s name being left out of a memorandum the party intended to submit. Mr. Banerjee reacted aggressively leading to a heated exchange between the two.
Following this, WhatsApp chats between Banerjee and Azad surfaced. In these conversations, Banerjee has referred to Moitra as a “versatile international lady” reportedly attacking her personal associations. However, Kirti Azad in turn asked him to “act like an adult”.
In 2022, Shatrughan Sinha voiced his disillusionment with his role in the party. Similarly, Kirti Azad raised concerns about the TMC’s internal working, particularly the lack of transparency in the decision making process.
