Eknath Shinde condemned Aurangzeb’s actions amid right wings groups' demand for the removal of his tomb.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has criticized the Mughal ruler, Aurangzeb for his policies and atrocities and has called people who still praise him “traitors”.
On the other hand, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the “divine force” who sought to bring justice for his people, and stood for valor, sacrifice, and spirit of Hindutva, Shinde said on Monday night on the occasion of “Shiv Jayanti”.
The Shiv Sena head was speaking at the unveiling of an equestrian statue of the Maratha king at Gharda Chowk in the Dombivli area of Thane district, installed to honor the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj, his leadership and courage.
Shinde’s statement has come amidst some right-wing groups' demand to remove Aurangzeb's tomb located in the state's Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district. Moreover, violence erupted in central Nagpur following rumors that the holy book of the Muslim community was burned during an agitation by a right-wing outfit over the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb.
Shinde also condemned the Mughal ruler over the execution of Shivaji Maharaj's son Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
