Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is expected to be extradited to India soon, according to sources cited by PTI. An Indian multi-agency team is in the US finalizing legal formalities.

Although his extradition is imminent, Rana is not arriving immediately. Authorities in Delhi and Mumbai are reportedly preparing secure jail facilities per US judicial guidelines. Rana, 64, is currently held in Los Angeles and recently lost his final appeal in the US Supreme Court to block extradition, despite citing serious health concerns.

A former Pakistani military doctor and businessman, Rana is linked to terrorist David Coleman Headley and the Pakistani group Lashkar-e-Taiba. His firm allegedly helped Headley plan the attacks by arranging travel documents.

Rana has never been questioned by Indian agencies before. Once in India, he is expected to be in NIA custody and interrogated in several cities. Officials hope Rana’s questioning will shed light on Pakistan-based handlers behind the 2008 attacks, including ISI and military officials.
