A major accident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Durbuk area of Ladakh when a boulder fell from a hillside onto a vehicle that was part of an Army convoy. According to reports, at least four to five soldiers, including an officer, were injured in the incident.
According to Army officials, the incident took place around 11:30 AM. The injured soldiers were immediately rescued, and relief operations are still underway. The Army’s ‘Fire and Fury Corps’ posted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), stating—"On July 30 at 11:30 AM, a boulder fell on a military convoy vehicle in Ladakh. Recovery operations are in progress."
Ladakh has been experiencing heavy rainfall and snowfall in recent days, leading to an increase in landslides and road accidents. Just a few days ago, a car accident occurred in the Pang area, in which two civilians were injured. They were also safely rescued and taken to a hospital in Karu by the Fire and Fury Corps team.
Once again, the Army displayed promptness in providing timely medical assistance and conducting relief efforts under challenging conditions. Given Ladakh’s rugged and sensitive terrain, such accidents remain a constant risk.
