Rajasthan and Punjab are on high alert following India’s recent military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Authorities in both states are bracing for potential escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan.

Punjab has canceled the leave of all police personnel, while schools in six border districts—Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Tarn Taran—have been shut until further notice. The state’s police have been put on high alert, and all public events have been canceled as a precaution. Punjab’s border spans 532 km with Pakistan, and the government has emphasized its role as a critical defense line.

In Rajasthan, which shares a 1,070 km border with Pakistan, all leaves for police and administrative personnel have been canceled, with schools in four border districts—Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer—closed. The state is also on high alert, and security measures have been tightened across these regions.

These precautionary measures come after India’s “Operation Sindoor,” launched in retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam attack on April 22, which killed 26 civilians.
