India kicked off a new era in Test cricket on a high, with a commanding performance against England on Day 1 of the first Test at Headingley, Leeds. Under the leadership of newly appointed captain Shubman Gill, India posted an impressive 359/3 at stumps. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul laid the foundation with a 91-run stand, while Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 65. Gill led from the front, adding vital partnerships that put England on the back foot. The day ended with India firmly in control and fans eager for more dominance on Day 2.

However, weather forecasts for Saturday paint a worrying picture for Indian supporters. According to AccuWeather, although the morning is expected to remain warm and sunny, rain is likely to hit Leeds during the afternoon sessions. The probability of precipitation spikes to 86% in the second and third sessions, with a 77% overall chance of rain interruption. Cloud cover is set to increase to 45%, humidity may touch 57%, and the chance of thunderstorms has been pegged at 31%. A yellow weather warning has also been issued for the region, adding to the uncertainty.

With rain threatening to halt play, concerns have risen over India’s momentum being disrupted. The strong ongoing partnership between Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant has been frustrating the English bowling attack, and any interruption could prove costly. However, Team India will aim to maintain their composure and continue their dominance if play resumes. For now, all eyes remain on the skies as Day 2 hangs in the balance.
