Wednesday, 20 March 2025 was a challenging day for farmer activist Jagjit Singh Dallewal Kisan Mazdoor Morcha head Sarvan Singh Pandher, and other prominent agitators in Mohali. They were detained on their way back from Chandigarh where they attended a meeting with the central government delegation.

The protesting farmers were also evicted from the Shambhu and Khanauri borders. The oustings began despite reassurances from the Punjab ministers about the AAP government having no such plans to disturb the protests. More than 250 protestors were detained from Khanauri, 110 from Mohali, and a few from Shambhu, according to a senior Punjab police officer.

Wednesday’s meeting was the seventh round of talks between the two sides on the contentious issue of the MSP. The next round of meetings is scheduled for May 4.
