In Varanasi, PM Modi invokes Lord Shiva’s fierce form to praise Operation Sindoor, slams Opposition, and announces ₹2,200 crore projects. Emphasizes India’s def
On August 2, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public gathering in Banauli village, Sevapuri, Varanasi, where he invoked Lord Shiva’s ‘Rudra roop’ to highlight India’s decisive action against terrorism through Operation Sindoor. He declared that the operation demonstrated India’s resolve, adding that even those hiding in ‘Pataal Lok’ would not be spared if they dared attack the country. Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Modi said the entire nation was moved by the victims' grief and united in the resolve to seek justice. “The success of Operation Sindoor is dedicated to Mahadev,” he said, amid chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’.
Modi credited the operation’s success to national unity and said this unity repeatedly awakens a collective consciousness that drives India’s strength. He criticized the Opposition, particularly the Congress and Samajwadi Party, for allegedly undermining the army’s valour. “Pakistan’s grief is understandable, but why are some Indian political parties mourning with them?” he asked, accusing them of insulting both the armed forces and the nation’s daughters by calling the operation a spectacle.
During his visit to his parliamentary constituency, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for various infrastructure projects worth ₹2,200 crore. These included the widening of key roads like Varanasi-Bhadohi and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar, new railway overbridges at Hardattpur, and others in urban and rural areas such as Lahartara-Kotwa and Babatpur. He also released the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, transferring over ₹20,500 crore to 9.7 crore farmers. Modi emphasized India’s growing defence self-reliance, stating that indigenous weapons, including missiles and drones, played a vital role in Operation Sindoor. He announced that BrahMos missiles would soon be produced in Lucknow and that the UP Defence Corridor would become central to India's military capabilities.
