The Ministry of External Affairs expressed its "deep sadness" on Friday over the death of a Nepalese student at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. The ministry stated that it has been in regular contact with the Odisha government since learning about the "tragic incident."
The body of the 18-year-old B. Tech computer science student from Nepal was found in her hostel room at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) on Thursday evening, according to police. The state government has pledged full support to the family, and Odisha police are conducting a thorough investigation.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a Nepali student at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar," the MEA said. "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family during this difficult period," the statement added.
This incident marks the second such case at the institute this year. Earlier, Prakriti Lamsal, another Nepalese student, died by suicide on February 16.
