Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara issues public apology after facing criticism for his comments on a sexual assault case in Bengaluru’s BTM Layout. Assures
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara issued a public apology on Tuesday, 8 April 2025 regarding public outrage over his careless remarks over a sexual assault case in Bangalore’s BTM layout.
“I want to clarify that the statement I made yesterday wasn’t understood properly. I am someone who has always had a lot of concern for the safety of women. I have ensured Nirbhaya funds are utilized well for their protection. I don’t want my statement to be twisted. If any women have been hurt by this, I express my regret and apologize,” the minister said according to NDTV.
Parameshwara issued an apology a day after facing backlash for comments seen as dismissive following a disturbing sexual assault incident captured on CCTV.
Earlier, while speaking to the media, he had stated, “Such incidents occasionally occur in large cities. Legal action will be taken as required, and I’ve directed the commissioner to step up beat patrolling.”
