Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Friday (July 11, 2025) that the final decision regarding the remaining appointments to state boards and corporations will be made on July 16 in Bengaluru. Congress general secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala is expected to visit the city that evening to hold further talks before finalising the list of names, Siddaramaiah told reporters.

A first round of discussions with Surjewala was held on July 10 and was described as successful. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was also present. “Surjewala is coming to Bengaluru on July 16; we will finalise the list then,” Siddaramaiah said before departing from Delhi.

While most of the key board and corporation posts have been assigned—mainly to legislators—various lower-level vacancies remain, which the government is addressing through recruitment initiatives.

Appointments to boards and corporations are politically significant in Karnataka, often used as tools to manage internal party equations and reward loyalists. Between June 1, 2023, and January 26, 2024, the state government appointed 42 MLAs and MLCs as board and corporation heads, granting them cabinet status and perks.
