In a significant development in the chilling murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, a Meghalaya court has extended the judicial custody of the three main accused. The accused Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi will remain behind walls for another 14 days. This extension period of judicial custody offers officers a crucial window to dig deeper into the murder that shook the nation.
Raja was on his honeymoon in the sentiment town of Sohra when tragedy struck. On May 23, he was brutally killed, and his body was discovered on June 2 in a gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls. What was meant to be a romantic get-away ended in horror incident, uncover a twisted story of betrayal and murder plan.
The investigation so far suggests that Raja’s own wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, may have involved the murder. Both are also in judicial custody, with authorities collecting damning evidence like CCTV footage and call records to support the claim of a premeditated crime.
The three accused hitmen were arrested in Madhya Pradesh and were presented via video link from the Shillong district jail. The extension of their judicial custody means investigators will keep into connect the dots and examine every angle.
The case has not only gripped Meghalaya but also gets attention across the country. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and forensic reports are awaited to provide more clarity.
