In a show of national unity, India will send seven all-party delegations, including top MPs from across the political spectrum, to key partner nations and UNSC
The government will dispatch seven all-party delegations to major partner countries—including United Nations Security Council members—later this month to reinforce India’s strong stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism, following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
In a statement released on Saturday (May 17, 2025), the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said the delegations will present India’s unified and determined approach to countering terrorism in all its forms. “These delegations will carry India’s firm message of zero tolerance against terrorism to the international community, reflecting a broad national consensus,” the statement noted.
The government has carefully chosen prominent and articulate Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum to lead the delegations:
Shashi Tharoor (Congress)
Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
Sanjay Kumar Jha (JD(U))
Baijayant Panda (BJP)
Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
Supriya Sule (NCP)
Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)
These leaders—four from the ruling NDA and three from the opposition INDIA bloc—will each head one delegation. Sources indicated that each group may travel to about five countries.
According to the Ministry, each team will also include seasoned diplomats. “In light of Operation Sindoor and India’s ongoing efforts against cross-border terrorism, these delegations will visit key global partners, including UN Security Council members, later this month,” the statement emphasized.
