In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, India conducted Operation Sindoor, targeting 24 terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The strikes focused solely on terrorist infrastructure linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, with no military installations targeted. India’s actions were described as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” by the government. However, Pakistan escalated tensions by attempting to strike multiple military sites in northern and western India using drones and missiles. India retaliated, neutralizing air defence radars, including one in Lahore.

Pakistan also increased artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in civilian casualties, including 16 deaths. India responded to halt the mortar and artillery fire, reaffirming its commitment to non-escalation if Pakistan respects the same. India’s retaliation was based on intelligence indicating further threats from Pakistan-based terrorist groups.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that Pakistan had failed to take action against terrorist infrastructure, despite clear evidence of its involvement in cross-border terrorism. India’s strikes aimed to preempt and deter future attacks, dismantling terrorist operations without escalating the conflict.
