IGNOU (IGNOU) has launched the study material of early childhood care and education (DECE) Diploma course in Odia language in collaboration with the Government of Odisha, making learning to learn for local teachers and Anganwadi workers has become even more simple and accessible. This is a commendable step towards inclusive education. Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj released these important resources.
This is the main focus of a one -year DECE course, which students can choose after class 12th - early child growth, health and nutrition. The specialty of this initiative is that it includes local language as well as multimedia support (textbooks, audio cassettes and video tutorials). This means that Anganwadi workers, nursery teachers and grassroots trainers will now be able to connect with materials in their mother tongue, which will make the learning process more effective and relevant. The deadline for admissions has been extended to August 31, 2025, ensuring that more aspiring educators can benefit.
Deputy CM Parida highlighted that this initiative supports the government’s push to strengthen early education through vernacular instruction, aligning with the NEP-2020 philosophy. Similarly, Minister Suraj noted that solid early education forms the bedrock of the entire learning ecosystem.
This launch isn’t merely about course availability it symbolizes progress, equity, and empowerment. It speaks to a future where grassroots educators are trained with dignity and cultural resonance, and where children’s first learning environments reflect their language and lived experiences.
