Two Indian Air Force (IAF) pilots lost their lives on Wednesday morning (July 9, 2025) when a Jaguar trainer aircraft crashed near Churu in Rajasthan during a routine training mission. The IAF confirmed the accident and announced that a court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause.

In an official statement, the IAF said, “A Jaguar Trainer aircraft crashed near Churu, Rajasthan during a training sortie. Both pilots were fatally injured. Thankfully, no civilian property was damaged.” The force also expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and extended support to the bereaved families.

According to Rajasthan police, the crash occurred around 1:25 p.m. in an agricultural field near Bhanoda village. Station House Officer Kamlesh from Rajaldesar said body parts were recovered from the crash site. Locals rushed to the area and witnessed the wreckage in flames. Emergency teams, including police, fire services, and ambulances, responded swiftly and cordoned off the scene.

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed their condolences. CM Sharma stated on X that the district administration was on high alert and instructed officials to carry out relief and rescue operations. He prayed for the souls of the deceased pilots.

This crash marks the third IAF Jaguar accident in 2025. In March, a Jaguar jet crashed in Haryana’s Ambala due to a technical malfunction, though the pilot ejected safely. In April, another Jaguar crashed near Jamnagar, killing one pilot after both attempted ejection following a system failure.

The IAF continues to investigate the causes behind these recurring mishaps.
