Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday, May 22, 2025, following a gunfight with suspected terrorists, officials reported. The encounter began during a joint operation in the Shingpora area of Chhatru, after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants in the region.
The White Knight Corps confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that contact had been made with the terrorists during the operation conducted alongside the police. Additional forces have been deployed to the area, and the operation is ongoing with the aim of neutralising the suspects.
Initial reports suggest that two to three terrorists are believed to be hiding in the vicinity.
