Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to brief a Parliamentary Committee on Monday, May 19, 2025, regarding the ongoing India-Pakistan military conflict following the Pahalgam terror attack. According to sources, the briefing will take place around 4 p.m.
The meeting follows Operation Sindoor, a military response launched by Indian forces to retaliate against the Pahalgam incident, which escalated into a series of military exchanges between India and Pakistan. The two nations eventually agreed to cease hostilities on May 10, 2025.
Mr. Misri will address the committee, headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, on May 19 and 20, providing updates on “current foreign policy developments” concerning India-Pakistan relations.
In addition, the Committee on Water Resources, chaired by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, will receive briefings from various government departments on topics such as flood risks, riverbank protection, soil erosion, and monsoon-related relief efforts, particularly focusing on transboundary rivers.
Amid these developments, the government has also decided to dispatch all-party delegations to 33 major international capitals to inform global leaders of India’s firm stance on countering terrorism in light of Operation Sindoor.
