The Congress party deleted a controversial post targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening, following a strong rebuttal from the BJP, which accused Congress of aligning with Pakistan. The now-deleted post featured an edited image of an empty yellow kurta, white pyjamas, and black shoes — resembling the Prime Minister — with the caption "gayab" (missing), criticizing his absence from an all-party meeting on the Pahalgam terror attack.
Although the post did not directly name PM Modi, it carried the caption, "Disappears at the time of responsibility," intensifying the opposition's criticism of his absence. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also questioned the PM's non-attendance, stating it was inappropriate for him to skip such an important briefing.
In response, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia showcased the image in a press conference, condemning it as disrespectful and accusing Congress of sympathizing with Pakistan. The BJP's official X handle called the post divisive, likening it to extremist slogans and branding Congress as "Muslim League 2.0."
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh defended the post, asserting that questioning the PM’s absence was valid. He called for a special Parliament session, demanding PM Modi directly address the nation regarding the Pahalgam attack.
