A bomb threat targeting Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s residence and the state secretariat triggered a major security alert on Friday. The threat, sent via email, claimed plans for an attack on both the CM’s residence and the secretariat, even hinting at a possible human IED. Acting swiftly, security personnel evacuated the entire complex and initiated a detailed search operation with the help of the bomb disposal squad.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Central) Udaypal Singh, the threatening email was received by the Haryana CID, which immediately alerted the Chandigarh Police. The secretariat building was promptly evacuated as a precaution, and all security agencies were placed on high alert. Multiple teams combed the area thoroughly to ensure the safety of the premises. Additional security was also deployed around the CM’s house to prevent any untoward incident.
Despite the tense atmosphere and intense search operation, authorities confirmed that nothing suspicious was found. The bomb squad cleared the premises after extensive checks. Police are currently investigating the source of the threat email and treating the case with utmost seriousness. As of now, no arrests have been made. Meanwhile, security has been tightened across key government installations in the city to prevent any potential follow-up threats.
