Alarm swept through Delhi’s school community yet again Wednesday morning as five institutions St. Thomas (Dwarka), Vasant Valley (Vasant Kunj), Richmond Global (Paschim Vihar), Mother's International (Hauz Khas), and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (Lodi Estate) received bomb threats via email. It was the third consecutive day of such warnings, and parents, teachers, and students were on edge.

Authorities wasted no time. Fire tenders, police bomb squads, detection dogs, and specialised cyber units were dispatched swiftly to each campus. Students and staff were evacuated, classrooms searched, and corridors scanned in a high-alert operation. Thankfully, no explosives or suspicious items were found during any sweep.

These hoax threats began on Monday, with schools in Chanakyapuri and Rohini targeted, followed by St. Stephen's College and St. Thomas the next day. Now, the wave of threats shows no signs of stopping. Delhi's police cyber criminals are investigating the emails, trying to trace their origin and prevent further panic.

For parents like Anjali Sharma whose child studies at St. Thomas the relief of no physical danger is overshadowed by persistent anxiety. “Each morning, we dread receiving the news,” she admits. “Even after clearances, it takes time to settle the fear.”

Authorities say they are treating the threats seriously, even as they appear to be hoaxes. Investigations continue, focusing on whether it's a copycat scenario or a larger coordinated attempt to create chaos.

High alerts are going on in schools, admission processes have been tightened, but it is not decided that these threats will end soon. In this city filled with life, these intimidating emails have left the shadow of fear-and remind us of how insecure a normal school can feel when an invisible danger bell rings again and again.
