“Delimitation unacceptable to Tamil Nadu”, said MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He along with his party, entirely opposes the idea of delimitation which is being championed by BJP chief, K Annamalai. He further challenged the contentious three-language formula, adding that it's a veiled attempt to impose Hindi and saffronise the state.

The PMK, BJP’s only major ally has broken ranks and joined the all-party meeting against delimitation and three-language policy, seeing it as an effort to weaken Tamil’s cultural and political ties in the state. With the AIADMK, which recently severed ties with the BJP, also joining the party meeting, many observers state that the BJP will risk alienation and fracturing the coalition it built for the 2024 elections.

With major Tamil Nadu parties united on these issues, the BJP is in a tricky position as it's deepening its disconnect with the state's regional and linguistic aspirations.
