The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership has accepted the resignation of three-time Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh, as announced on Friday, July 11, 2025. It remains unclear whether the party will forward his resignation to the Telangana Assembly Speaker directly or wait for Raja Singh to do it himself.

Raja Singh stepped down from the BJP’s primary membership in protest after the party’s central leadership nominated former MLC N. Ramachander Rao for the post of Telangana BJP president. Singh’s attempt to file his own nomination in defiance was blocked by election in-charge and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who stated he lacked support from at least 10 members of the state executive committee.

Currently on the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, Raja Singh signaled that he would remain committed to his Hindutva ideology. He has repeatedly criticized the party’s decisions, including appointments in his constituency and selections of MLC candidates. His ongoing attacks on BJP Telangana president and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, along with accusations that some BJP leaders were colluding with the Congress government, had been overlooked by the party until this resignation episode.

Party spokesperson Rani Rudrama Devi told the media in Hyderabad that Raja Singh’s resignation, submitted on June 30 to G. Kishan Reddy, was forwarded to the central leadership. It was accepted on disciplinary grounds. She emphasized there were no personal issues between the party and Singh, who had previously been suspended and later reinstated.

A letter from BJP national general secretary Arun Singh informed Raja Singh that his resignation had been brought to the attention of party president J.P. Nadda. The letter stated that the reasons mentioned in Singh’s resignation were “irrelevant” and inconsistent with the party’s functioning, principles, and ideology. The resignation was accepted with immediate effect.

BJP general secretary K. Venkateshwarlu added at a separate press conference that the decision was made by the central leadership and that state leaders had no involvement. “Since Mr. Raja Singh acted on his own, we will proceed based on whatever directions we receive from the central leadership,” he said.
