A massive Bharat Bandh hits India today, affecting public services nationwide as over 25 crore workers protest economic policies, labour reforms, and worker rig
Today, a huge India is being seen in the whole of India, where more than 25 crore workers are taking to the roads and participating in the nationwide strike. This closed is against the policies of the government, which the protesters are calling "anti -labour, anti -farmer and corporate supporters". The bandh has been called by a coalition of 10 Central Trade Unions, which is also supported by farmers and rural labour organizations. Its objective is to highlight issues like pay inequality, job insecurity, labour rights cuts and inflation.
Public services are expected to take the brunt of the impact. Banking operations including cheque clearances, cash handling, and customer transactions are likely to be disrupted, as public and cooperative bank employees participate. Postal services, power supply, coal mining, highway construction, and certain public sector units may also see stoppages. Transport sectors, like state-run buses, ferries, and possibly rail services, might face delays, though metros and private services have mostly remained unaffected.
Despite the bandh, essential services such as hospitals, emergency services, schools, colleges and private offices are expected to be operated normally. Governments of the affected states have instructed even government employees to be present without taking leave.
Security preparations are in full swing. Railway officials have increased patrolling and surveillance on major stations, especially in Bihar. At the same time, the police force is also on high alert in the protesting sensitive areas so that the traffic remains smooth and the law and order remains.
For travellers and citizens, it is wise to expect delays in banking and transport services and plan accordingly. Monitor updates via local advisories before scheduling activities today.
