Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited forward positions of the Dagger Division under Chinar Corps in Baramulla on Thursday, where he met troops engaged in Operation Sindoor — India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Commending the soldiers, he praised their courage and vigilance in dominating the Line of Control and targeting terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He also stressed the need for continued readiness and decisive response to any threat.

A day earlier, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, along with the Army, Navy, and Air Force chiefs, briefed President Droupadi Murmu on the operation. The President lauded the armed forces' bravery and success in counterterrorism efforts.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK, killing over 100 terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes were repelled, prompting further Indian precision strikes until May 10. Both countries later agreed to a ceasefire across all military domains. The operation marked a shift in India-Pakistan dynamics, with a focus on new-age, joint-force warfare.
