Trinamool Congress nominates Abhishek Banerjee to the Operation Sindoor global outreach team after MP Yusuf Pathan's exit. TMC insists it, not the Centre, will
The Trinamool Congress has named Abhishek Banerjee as its representative for the all-party parliamentary delegation involved in the Operation Sindoor global outreach, sources told India Today. This decision follows MP Yusuf Pathan’s withdrawal from the delegation a day earlier.
The Centre has formed seven delegations comprising members from various political parties to spread India’s anti-terror message abroad in the wake of Operation Sindoor. However, Trinamool sources claim the Centre selected names without consulting the party.
Abhishek Banerjee reiterated the party's backing of the government on matters concerning national security and the fight against terrorism. However, he emphasized that only the party has the authority to decide who represents it.
“We fully support the Central Government on all issues concerning national interest and national security. But it is not the government’s job to decide who represents the Trinamool Congress. That decision rests solely with our party. If you need one representative, we can offer five — but the Centre must show sincerity,” he stated.
