In a welcome move for frequent highway travelers, the government has introduced a ₹3,000 Annual Toll Pass for private vehicles, alongside updates to the FASTag system. Launched by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), this initiative is designed to reduce travel costs and simplify toll payments for daily commuters. The pass operates on a prepaid model, offering unlimited travel for one year on a specific toll plaza or highway stretch.

Key highlights of the pass include:

  • Valid only for private light motor vehicles

  • Linked directly to the vehicle’s FASTag

  • Non-transferable and valid for 365 days

  • Not applicable for commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks

This scheme is especially beneficial for daily office-goers, school transport vehicles, local residents, and intercity commuters regularly using the same toll route.

Applying for the pass is simple and fully digital. Users can visit the official NHAI FASTag portal or authorized toll plaza partners, enter their vehicle and mobile number, choose the relevant toll location, and pay ₹3,000 through UPI, card, or net banking. The pass activates within 24 hours and offers year-long toll-free travel on the selected route.
