Panic Ridden Doctor Triggers Delhi Car Blast Following Crackdown on White Collar Terror Module

Investigations into the devastating blast near Delhi’s Red Fort suggest that rather than being a meticulously planned attack, the explosion may have been born out of panic and desperation. Dr Umar un‑Nabi, a doctor linked to the incident, is believed to have been behind the wheel of the white Hyundai i20 that exploded.

Authorities say that in the days leading up to the blast, security forces carried out sweeping raids across multiple states including Haryana’s Faridabad which dismantled what is described as a “white-collar terror module” connected to banned outfits such as Jaish‑e‑Mohammad.

It appears Dr Umar, under mounting pressure, may have hastily triggered the device or taken action in a state of panic. One senior officer told HT: “The bomb was premature and not fully developed, thus limiting the impact.”

Forensic teams have matched explosive residues at the blast scene to the huge cache of nearly 3,000 kg of ammonium nitrate and other bomb-making materials seized in Faridabad. The movement of the vehicle, the timing of arrests, and the hasty nature of the explosion have led investigators to conclude the act was less about perfect execution and more about reactive terror.

The implications are chilling: a terror network composed of professionals and “white-collar” operatives that may have been forced into action by security pressure. The case, now with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), reflects how intelligence operations may have prevented a much larger planned attack yet still left the city reeling.

Families of the victims remain in shock, as questions mount about how the module operated undetected, why the timing, and how to guard against such professional radicalisation. The narrative unfolding is less about a lone bomber and more about a network of educated individuals radicalised under the radar.
