Amid India-Pakistan Tension, Stock Market Rises: Sensex Climbs 330 Points, Nifty Crosses 24,100

Stock Market 28 April Today: On April 22, the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to a decline in the stock market on the last two trading days of the previous week. However, on April 28 (Monday), the stock market opened in the green zone, driven by global market optimism. Around 9:30 AM, the Sensex rose by 327.74 points, or 0.41%, reaching 79,540.27.

Meanwhile, the Nifty-50 also saw an increase of 77.70 points, or 0.32%, opening at 24,152.20. Previously, on Friday, April 25, the Indian stock market closed in the red. The Sensex fell by 588.90 points, or 0.74%, closing at 79,212.53, while the Nifty dropped 207.35 points to 24,039.35.

Stock Market Boost

Talking about global markets, the GIFT Nifty was trading around 24,232 on Monday, showing a 93-point premium over the previous session's Nifty futures close. U.S. markets also saw a rise. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index climbed by 0.1%, Japan's Nikkei gained 22 points, or 0.82%, and South Korea's Kospi rose by 0.32%.

The U.S. markets had closed higher on Friday due to President Trump's softer stance on tariffs and signs of reduced trade tensions between Russia and China, which boosted investor confidence.

RIL's Excellent Results

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) reported a profit of ₹19,407 crore, while retail and Jio also performed exceptionally well. In 2025, it became the first Indian company to surpass a net worth of ₹10 trillion. Meanwhile, Oracle Financial Services' profit grew by 14%, with a 5% increase in revenue.

RBL Bank, however, saw an 80% decline in its fourth-quarter profit, and interest income dropped by 2%. Additionally, IDFC First Bank's results were below expectations.
