A woman and her lover were arrested in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly murdering her husband and attempting to pass it off as a snakebite death. Amit Kashyap, also known as Mikki, was found dead in his bed on Sunday with multiple snake bites, and a live viper was recovered from the room. However, the autopsy revealed that he had died from asphyxiation, not snake venom, prompting a deeper investigation.
According to police, Ravita and her partner, Amardeep, who worked with Amit, had been in a relationship for over a year. On the night of the murder, they waited for Amit to fall asleep before strangling him. To mislead investigators, Amardeep allegedly purchased a viper for ₹1,000 from a snake charmer and placed it near Amit’s body, resulting in post-mortem snakebites.
Police said Amit had recently learned of his wife’s affair and naturally opposed it, which led to the conspiracy. The couple reportedly researched murder techniques online to execute their plan and avoid detection.
