Three terrorists were neutralised on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, during an encounter with security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army confirmed. Acting on precise intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants in the Shoekal Keller area of Shopian, the Army initiated a search and destroy mission in the region.

According to the Army, the operation escalated into a fierce gunfight when the terrorists opened heavy fire on the advancing forces. The security personnel responded swiftly and effectively, leading to the deaths of all three terrorists involved in the exchange. The encounter site was swiftly cordoned off to prevent any escape or interference.

The Army further stated that the operation is still underway, as security forces continue combing the area to ensure the presence of any additional threats is ruled out. This encounter is part of the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the region, aimed at eliminating militants and maintaining peace in the Union Territory.
