Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, narrowly escaped a serious accident early Saturday morning when a truck rammed into his convoy in Vaishali district. The incident occurred around 2 AM near a toll plaza under Goraul police station limits, as Tejashwi was returning to Patna from Madhepura. The convoy had stopped briefly at a roadside eatery when the speeding truck struck, injuring a sub-inspector, a constable, and a driver from his security team.
The injured personnel were immediately taken to Sadar Hospital in Hajipur, where they were declared out of danger. Tejashwi later visited the hospital to check on them, expressing concern and calling for strict action. He stated that the truck missed him by just a few feet and warned that the situation could have turned fatal if the vehicle had been more out of control. Prompt police action led to the truck driver’s arrest, and the vehicle was seized for further examination.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, with a formal complaint filed against the driver. RJD MLA Mukesh Roshan has demanded a thorough probe, suggesting that the possibility of drunk driving should not be ruled out. Vaishali’s civil surgeon, Dr. Mukesh Roshan, confirmed that all medical protocols are being followed and the injured are stable. The incident has raised concerns about VIP security on highways and has prompted calls for improved safety measures for political convoys traveling through the state. As inquiries continue, the focus remains on ensuring accountability and preventing such lapses in the future.
