Seven suspected terrorists from the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group were killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) during an infiltration attempt in the Samba sector of Jammu on the night of May 8–9, 2025. According to a BSF statement, the infiltrators were trying to cross the border under the cover of heavy gunfire from Pakistan Rangers stationed at the Dhandhar post. BSF troops, using their surveillance systems, detected the movement and responded swiftly, neutralising all seven militants and inflicting significant damage on the Pakistani post supporting them.
This infiltration attempt coincided with a series of Pakistani drone and artillery attacks along India’s western border, targeting areas in Jammu, Pathankot, and Jaisalmer. The Indian Army confirmed that multiple ceasefire violations also occurred along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. All incoming drone threats were effectively countered.
These events follow India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting JeM training camps in Pakistan, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, including tourists and a local guide. The Indian Army emphasized its unwavering commitment to national security, vowing to respond firmly to any hostile actions.
