Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann sidelined by illness; Arvind Kejriwal visits flood-hit areas to assess relief efforts.
Punjab is currently facing the most severe floods in decades. In such a situation, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had to cancel the visit to the affected areas due to viral fever. This cancellation occurred at such an important time when more than 1,400 villages have been submerged and more than 35 lakh people have been affected.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener, stepped in quickly. After visiting a recuperating Mann at his official residence, Kejriwal traveled to Sultanpur Lodhi along with state president Aman Arora to assess conditions firsthand. His team met local residents, intensified rescue operations and coordinated relief material distribution in areas with rapid deteriorating conditions.
This flood due to the boom of Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers is one of the most terrible natural disasters on the state in the last nearly 40 years. Increased death figure and widespread devastation have further increased the pressure on the state government to provide quick relief and long -term assistance. Opposition figures have voiced concerns over the initial response. Criticism came to light by alleging slow action and insufficient preparation on the Mann government. In response, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) postponed its scheduled political rally to organize the volunteers and speed up relief operations at the ground level.
Finally, as long as the vows are healthy, the ground leadership did not stagger, but performed the necessary readiness and perseverance at the time of disaster. Now the entire focus focuses on rehabilitation, reconstruction and restoration of general status for the communities of Punjab.
