PM Modi's first visit to China after the Ladakh dispute is fixed, expected to give a new direction to bilateral relations by attending the Shanghai Cooperation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China on August 31 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. This visit is particularly significant as it will be his first trip to China since the border standoff in Ladakh in 2020.
Given the strained relations and military tensions between India and China, the visit holds considerable importance. Both countries are currently engaged in efforts to normalize relations at diplomatic and military levels. In this context, the Prime Minister’s visit is also seen as a strategic signal that India is willing to keep communication channels open with China while maintaining its presence on regional platforms.
However, the visit comes at a time when India’s strategic policies are playing an active role on both neighboring and global fronts. Alongside the ongoing border dispute with China, balancing relations with Russia, the United States, and South Asian countries remains a major challenge for India.
Preparations for the visit are in full swing at the levels of security, diplomacy, and strategy. India’s participation in multilateral forums like the SCO reflects its commitment to maintaining a strong presence on global platforms without compromising on national interests
