Haryana government enforces a one year ban on gutka, pan masala, and similar products.
The Haryana government has announced one-year ban on manufacture, storage, distribution, and sell of gutka, pan masala, flavoured or scented tobacco, kharra, and similar products across the state. The decision, effective from this month, was made to fight the serious health risk posed by these widely consume products, including oral cancer, respiratory illness, heart disease, and maybe genetic damage. The ban is being applauded as a proactive step to safe public health and future generation.
According to food department, many of these products contains harmful stuff like heavy metals, silver leaf, binders, and banned chemical additives. The order has been shared to key officials, especially in high-consumption areas like Nuh, to make sure enforcement is effective. Also, awareness campaigns will launched to educate public about the health dangers and legal repercussion.
Under Section 30 of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, state food commissioners are empowered to take preventive.
