The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday carried out coordinated raids in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as part of its probe into a suspected terror conspiracy linked to the banned radical outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT). The agency conducted searches at three locations in Bhopal and two in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, as it investigates HuT’s efforts to create a network aimed at radicalising Muslim youth across India.
According to officials, the group was allegedly involved in motivating vulnerable individuals to join a movement aimed at disrupting peace and attempting to replace India’s democratic system with an Islamic State governed by Shariah law. The ongoing case, under which these raids were conducted, is part of the NIA's broader strategy to dismantle terror networks and prevent the spread of extremist ideologies within the country. The operation follows multiple inputs about HuT's increasing activities in various parts of India, particularly targeting youth through ideological indoctrination.
During the raids, NIA teams seized several digital devices and documents suspected to contain crucial information about the group’s activities and communication networks. These items will now be subjected to forensic examination to uncover further evidence related to the radicalisation process and possible links to international handlers. The agency has reiterated its commitment to rooting out any threats to India’s internal security and has urged citizens to remain vigilant. The crackdown marks yet another step in India’s ongoing efforts to curb extremism and ensure national safety in the face of rising global terror threats.
