On 6 September 2025, a social media post of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) created a big controversy. Now in this deleted message, it was written, linking the GST tax deduction on the bidi with the state of Bihar, "Both Bidi and Bihar start with B. Now it cannot be considered a sin."

This post was widely criticized, especially the leaders of Bihar strongly condemned it. Union Minister Nityanand Rai called it an insult to the entire state.

The Kerala Congress leadership came to light while taking immediate action on the matter. KPCC President Sunny Joseph accepted this mistake and described it as "lack of caution". He said that the responsible officials immediately removed the post and also apologized in public.

Meanwhile, VT Balaram, convenor of the Kerala Congress social media wing, resigned. Although Balaram said that his resignation was already decided, but the dispute came to the fore at the same time.

KPCC has announced major changes in its digital communication team to ensure better monitoring and accountability in future. Its aim is to prepare all messages from the front sensitivity and professional. This incident clearly shows how a mistake made on social media can bring real political results, especially in sensitive times like election. It strengthens the need to take more caution and responsibility in digital campaigns.
