Following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26, including two from Karnataka, the state government is working to ensure the safe return of Kannadiga
In an official statement, the Karnataka tourism department announced that efforts are underway to bring back Kannadigas currently touring Jammu and Kashmir. This follows a targeted terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, which claimed 26 lives and left several injured.
Among the deceased were two individuals from Karnataka—Manjunath Rao from Shivamogga and Bharat Bhushan from Bengaluru.
"The tragic loss of two Kannadigas in the Pahalgam terrorist attack is deeply saddening. In response, the state government is taking steps to facilitate the return of residents of Karnataka who are presently in Jammu and Kashmir," the statement read.
While arrangements are being made to bring back the bodies, the government has urged family members and friends of tourists in the region to contact authorities through dedicated helplines.
Tour operators and travel agents in Karnataka have also been asked to provide information on any tourists who may still be in Jammu and Kashmir.
