In Operation Sindoor, Indian forces targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan as retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists and shocked the nation.
The camps, run by Pakistan’s main terror groups—Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen—have long been involved in destabilizing India. Following the precision strikes, Pakistan spread false claims that civilians had been killed. India rejected these allegations and condemned the state funeral held for some of the terrorists killed in the operation, with the Pakistani army paying respects. Among those killed was Mudassar Khadian Khas, a leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba, who received a guard of honor at his funeral, attended by top military and political figures. Other notable terrorists, such as Hafiz Muhammed Jameel and Mohammad Yusuf Azhar, were also confirmed dead. Jameel, associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Azhar, a key figure in several terrorist attacks, were both linked to Pakistan-based terror operations.
The rising tensions between India and Pakistan have continued following Operation Sindoor, with the Pakistani army targeting civilian infrastructure while the Indian Army has carried out retaliatory strikes on Pakistan air bases.
