Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, during an all-party delegation visit to Brazil, addressed claims made by US President Donald Trump regarding the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Tharoor firmly stated that India didn’t need to be persuaded to stop the conflict; it had already made it clarify from the start that its only goal was to remove terrorism, not to start a war.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7, Tharoor said India’s move was a direct response to the horrific April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people. India launched precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, picking out groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Over 100 terrorists were reportedly ratified.

Tharoor emphasized that India’s motto was never to prolong the conflict. If Pakistan hadn’t reacted, India wouldn’t have either. After four intense days of cross-border tension, a ceasefire understanding was reached on May 10. While Trump publicly claimed to have brokered the deal, India clarified that it was actually the result of direct military communication between the two countries' top officers.

India’s global outreach struggle around Operation Sindoor include sending seven all-party delegations to different countries. These groups, made up of leaders from across party lines, are explaining India’s anti-terror stance and its message of peace and unity.

Tharoor’s delegation, which includes limbs from BJP, Shiv Sena, and others, has shown up Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil, and is now in Washington. fascinatingly, a Pakistani delegation is also present in the US capital, drawing more attention to the issue.

India continues to focus on peace, development, and maintaining strong international partnerships while clearly communicating its stand against terrorism to the world.
