Train services in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district resumed on Sunday, June 8, 2025, after Gurjar protesters vacated the Mumbai-Delhi railway track. The protesters dispersed peacefully following a consensus reached with the Rajasthan government during a Mahapanchayat held in Pilupura village. Earlier in the day, demonstrators had blocked the route by halting the Mathura-Sawai Madhopur passenger train, causing significant disruption to rail traffic and inconvenience to passengers.

The protest was part of a larger Gurjar agitation demanding the implementation of reservation benefits. The Rajasthan government responded by agreeing to key demands. Most notably, officials assured the community that the 5% reservation granted to Gurjars under the Most Backward Classes category would be moved to the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, providing it with stronger legal protection. In addition, a nodal officer will be appointed to oversee the resolution of pending legal cases related to previous protests.

Following the government's assurance, the protesters decided to call off their demonstration and vacate the railway tracks. Authorities reported that the situation in the region is now under control and that train operations have resumed smoothly. Passengers stranded at various stations due to the disruption are now able to travel as services return to normal.

This peaceful resolution highlights the importance of constructive dialogue between protestors and the government. The swift response from the state administration helped prevent further escalation and ensured that public inconvenience was minimized. Political analysts have praised the move as a pragmatic step in addressing long-standing community concerns through democratic means. The Gurjar leaders, while satisfied with the immediate outcomes, indicated that they will continue to monitor the government's actions to ensure commitments are fulfilled.
